Lähimetsässämme Keski-Uudellamaalla kasvoi hyvin vanha, lähemmäs 120-vuotias koivu. Syksyllä 2017 myrsky koitui sen kohtaloksi. Puolet haarautuneesta koivusta repesi ja kaatui maahan. Tein veistoksen koivun lahonneesta latvuston palasta. Jätin veistoksen yläosaan paikalleen koivun omaa kaarnaa, pyöreäksi merkiksi.
In the forest nearby in Central Uusimaa, there was a birch that must have been almost 120 years old. It had a double branch, and an autumn storm broke off the other half in 2017. For this sculpture, I used a piece of rotten wood from the top of the tree. On the top end of the sculpture, I left a piece of the bark for a mark.
