”Šamaani”-veistoksen tapaan myös ”Opas” on nauvolaista mäntyä.
Aihio oli vanha ja maasta juuristonsa lahoamisen myötä kokonaan irronnut männyn kantojuurakko. Kuten
männyn kantojuurakoissa yleensäkin, myös tämä sisälsi tervettä puuta, jota runsas pihkaantuminen oli suojannut. Aihion muodon vahvat linjat ja suunnat ohjasivat vahvasti sen työstämistä.
Like the sculpture ”Shaman”, Opas is made of pine from Nauvo. The preform was an old pine stump and it was already off the ground thanks to the rotten roots. Like with pine stumps usually, this one also had plenty of healthy wood protected by pitch. The clean lines and directions of the preform strongly influenced this piece.
