Tämä vanha männyn juurakon palanen löytyi Kolin kansallispuiston vieressä sijaitsevan Pielisen pohjasta. Pintakäsittelin veistoksen kirkkaalla puuöljyllä eli veistoksen ruskean harmahtava sävy on puun oma luonnollinen väri. Annoin työlle nimeksi Vetehinen sen löytöpaikan ja muodon mukaan. Suomalaisessa mytologiassa vetehinen tarkoittaa muotoaan muuttavaa veden henkeä tai vartijaa.
This piece is from the bottom of the lake Pielinen next to the Koli National Park. I treated the surface with clear wood oil only, so the greyish brown shade of the sculpture is the natural colour of the wood. I named this piece Vetehinen because of its shape and where it was found. In Finnish mythology, vetehinen is a shape-shifting water spirit or guardian.
